Welcome to my blog. I'm Julie, a 37 year old wife and stay-at-home mom who rarely stays home. I am married to the best husband (McDaddy) a girl could ask for and I have two of the cutest little boys on the planet, Stevie (age 8) and Alex (age 5).

    The Cutting Edge

Some time ago, I was contacted by a company called CSN Stores asking if I’d like to review a product from one of their sites.

Then, a few weeks ago, I received another offer to review a product, or host a give-away. As you might imagine, I jumped at the offer. I asked if I could do a review and host a giveaway and they said, “Yes! What a great idea.” Only they didn’t really say that, but they did agree.

They have over 200 stores and offer just about you or I or anyone else for that matter could dream of. They have entire sites dedicated to pressure washers, rugs, massage chairs, and even dutch ovens. Sadly, I am still not not reviewing (or giving away for that matter) a massage chair. However, if you know anything about me and my never-ending pursuit to get a Saturn Sky for free, you know that I never give up.

I scoured the CSN sites and decided on something, then changed my mind, then changed my mind again.

    I finally decided on these…

If you’re reading here and thinking this whole review/giveaway of Ginsu knives is a bit weird, well, I’d say you’re probably right.

If you’d had the kind of bad luck I’ve had with knives though, you might understand. I received a set of knives when McDaddy and I got married back in 1998. Then, I received a set for Christmas a few years ago. Both sets were pretty cheap and within months they wouldn’t cut squat. Well, actually they would cut squat, but not very well.

I don’t have a long list of requirements for a set of knives except that they cut really well.

I used the Ginsu knives a few days ago when I made Cola Chicken. The knives have really cool blades and stainless trim AND they are super sharp which is good because hello, cut much? They really worked for me!

As I mentioned earlier, this is a review AND a give-away.

To win, head over to CSN Stores and head back here to tell me one of your favorite products!

Be sure to leave a valid e-mail address so you can be contacted if you win. A winner will be chosen courtesy of Random.Org on September 28, 2010 at 11:00pm ET.

    ——

In the interest of full disclosure, I received a set of Ginsu knives to facilitate this review, and a lucky reader will receive a set of their own, however, the opinions expressed in this post are my own.

    When Knives Excite You…

    Ahem.

    Instead, I chose this…

Folks, when a knife set excites you, well, let’s just say it’s bad.

    Stay Tuned…

In the meantime, head over to CSN and check out the massage chairs, the hot plates, the water pumps, or one of my personal favorites, SHOES! There is truly something for everyone!

Simplify My Life As A Mommy and Wife

This little Mini 110 could be mine, if I can come up with a creative rhyme.

To keep this simple, I thought I might, tell how this HP Mini could simplify my life.

While sitting at school in the pick-up line, I could find me and McDaddy a place to dine.

And after downloading my pics to this handy gem, I could crop and edit each one of them.

The Mini 110 by Studio Tord Boontje, would make life simpler for this hip hoochie. (sorry, it rhymed!)

With built-in WiFi, I could blog on the run, and even facebook in my grocery- getter van  just for fun.

The super small notebook sure is cool, it would come in handy for PTA stuff at Stevie’s school.

The two-pound notebook would simply my life, as a busy mom of two and a superwife.

While my boys plated at McDonalds, I could send an e-mail to find a sitter, or use the notebook to send a tweet on Twitter.

So hopefully this rhyme will strike a chord, from this gal in WV who hasn’t the time to be bored.

My life will be easy and with lots less stress, because the little notebook will help organize the mess.

    And Speaking Of Freezers

Let me start by saying, June Cleaver, I am not.

Nor am I Martha Stewart (ahem!)

So, you can bet your bottom dollar (and your pearls) that if I’m doing a post about some sort of activity in the kitchen, you can bet it’s worth listening to.

Because I have three requirements for anything that happens in my kitchen.

    • Quick
    • Easy
    • Failproof

And, because of that, I have something wonderful to share with you.

    Revolutionary?

    Probably not.

    But helpful for sure!

As the New Year dawned, I decided that I needed to spend more time in my kitchen actually doing something other than organizing my cabinets or hunting for my next fix piece of chocolate.

Because of that, I made the decision to take the menu planning by the horns and actually plan a menu for once instead of waiting until the very last minute to scrounge something up for dinner.

Because my peeps are worth it.

First, I planned twelve dinners and purchased all of the food items I would need for those dinners. In some cases (vegetable soup and pastas) I bought enough for double portions so that I could freeze half of the meal for another time. Some of my other meals inlcuded lasagna, chicken breasts, spaghetti, tacos, manwich, chicken enchiladas, tuna casserole, and pork chops.

I didn’t actually assign certain meals to certain days, because I am a control freak I wanted the freedom to choose meals based on time constraints with evening activities such as scouts and Pioneers. Two weeks into the 2010 Great American meal plan and things are going very well. My freezer is full and I get more for my money when I prepare one pot of soup to eat and one pot of soup to freeze.

    And speaking of freezers….

Urban Stone is a site that allows you to easily compare shopping prices for products like freezers, shoes (YAY!) electronics and anything else you can think of. Check out Urban Stone the next time you are shopping for an item on-line. It’s a quick and easy way to find the best shopping deals online.

    Did you hear me?

I said shoes and best shopping deals in the same paragraph.

    There.

I thought that would get your attention.

In accordance with FCC regulation, I am fully disclosing that I am being monetarily compensated for this post by Urban Stone.
