Welcome to my blog. I'm Julie, a 37 year old wife and stay-at-home mom who rarely stays home. I am married to the best husband (McDaddy) a girl could ask for and I have two of the cutest little boys on the planet, Stevie (age 8) and Alex (age 5).

    And Speaking Of Freezers

Let me start by saying, June Cleaver, I am not.

Nor am I Martha Stewart (ahem!)

So, you can bet your bottom dollar (and your pearls) that if I’m doing a post about some sort of activity in the kitchen, you can bet it’s worth listening to.

Because I have three requirements for anything that happens in my kitchen.

    • Quick
    • Easy
    • Failproof

And, because of that, I have something wonderful to share with you.

    Revolutionary?

    Probably not.

    But helpful for sure!

As the New Year dawned, I decided that I needed to spend more time in my kitchen actually doing something other than organizing my cabinets or hunting for my next fix piece of chocolate.

Because of that, I made the decision to take the menu planning by the horns and actually plan a menu for once instead of waiting until the very last minute to scrounge something up for dinner.

Because my peeps are worth it.

First, I planned twelve dinners and purchased all of the food items I would need for those dinners. In some cases (vegetable soup and pastas) I bought enough for double portions so that I could freeze half of the meal for another time. Some of my other meals inlcuded lasagna, chicken breasts, spaghetti, tacos, manwich, chicken enchiladas, tuna casserole, and pork chops.

I didn’t actually assign certain meals to certain days, because I am a control freak I wanted the freedom to choose meals based on time constraints with evening activities such as scouts and Pioneers. Two weeks into the 2010 Great American meal plan and things are going very well. My freezer is full and I get more for my money when I prepare one pot of soup to eat and one pot of soup to freeze.

    And speaking of freezers….

Urban Stone is a site that allows you to easily compare shopping prices for products like freezers, shoes (YAY!) electronics and anything else you can think of. Check out Urban Stone the next time you are shopping for an item on-line. It’s a quick and easy way to find the best shopping deals online.

    Did you hear me?

I said shoes and best shopping deals in the same paragraph.

    There.

I thought that would get your attention.

In accordance with FCC regulation, I am fully disclosing that I am being monetarily compensated for this post by Urban Stone.

A Post About A Post Card

Typically, I have a tough time coming up with something different that works for me each week because I feel quite sure that y’all don’t want to read about Dr. Pepper and Little Debbie cakes each week. Although if I’m being honest, I can’t say those things actually work for me. It’s just that I consume more than my fair share of both of those.

    Anyway.

I did hear harps this week when my hair dresser introduced me to a super, new product, but I’ll save that for next week, you know, because Works For Me Wednesday will come around again before we know it.

Instead, I thought I’d show you something neat that came in the mail today.

    I received 200 of these.

This happens to be a post-card announcing Revival at our lovely, little church.

One of my blog sponsors, Uprinting.com, offered 200 free post-cards to one of my readers. In addition to that, they offered me 200 free post cards, also.

They were simple to design and the end product is a high-quality, glossy post card.

    Uprinting.com works for me!

Not only does UPrinting.com print business cards and a bunch of other things, they also do sticker printing and custom labels. That’s all kinds of fun in one place! You can view their sticker printing page for some great ideas or you can design your own from scratch. Did I mention the easy design process?

And now, they are offering one of my readers (and me, too!) 250 custom stickers/labels.

    Seriously. Scram.

    This is a surprise.

    Now then.

A few weeks ago, a friend from our church returned from a 6-month deployment in Saudi Arabia. His family displayed a beautiful banner for his homecoming.

You may or may not recall that my sweet hubby, McDaddy is currently deployed.

I inquired about where his wife ordered the banner from becuase I wanted to get one for McDaddy’s homecoming.

I was thrilled to find out that the banner was free except for shipping. Unfortunately though, my friend couldn’t remember the name of the company that she ordered it from.

Thankfully, my friend Google showed up for work yesterday.

A quick search of Free & Banner & Military yielded a search result to BuildASign.com.

In honor of Veteran’s Day, the kind folks at Build A Sign are offering 20,000 free banners to service members who are returning home.

I can’t wait to see the banner I ordered for McDaddy.

I appreciate BuildASign.com’s generosity in offering such an awesome deal to military members.

A great deal WORKS FOR ME!

If you have a family member returning home in the next few months, head over there and design a banner for their homecoming. They offer several different options and the banners are super simple to design.

    Thank you, BuildASign!
